BERGARA BA13 Take Down Tuning with Spartan Javelin Original Bipod / Bipod | Customer order for weapon optimisation
Part 2 Report Bergara tuning trigger and CerakoteFirst of all: Many thanks to our customer for sending us the BERGARA BA13 Photos with our INCA 32 OBS silencer together with the attached Spartan Javelin bipod.
We recently received a customer enquiry as to whether it would be possible in the Fore-end of the BERGARA BA13 break-action rifle the recording of the Spartan Javelin bipod / Bipod.
The big, heavy, bulky and military-looking bipods from Harris, UTG, etc. were simply not an option.
Our customer wanted a lightweight and Quickly detachable bipod as most of the stalking is done with a weapon in the mountains.
The ultralight carbon fibre two-piece from Spartan with a magnetic holder in the socket is of course ideal here.
Our customer then sent us the fore-end and we realised that this was possible without any problems. We are happy to show you how it looks in detail with the customer pictures.

Bergara BA 13 Take Down: Shooting test in our Shooting channel
We tested the BA13 Take Down with our INCA 44KTi OBS titanium silencer.
The total length of the gun including the silencer is just 1 metre (exactly 101.5 cm). Our conclusion:
- The Shooting performance and precision are outstanding - Both with and without a silencer, we had no problems at 100 metres with different ammunition and weights.
- The Fume cupboard is dry and without advance. The closure also works well - the quality is absolutely top in terms of price/performance.
- Nevertheless, the gun is a little top-heavy due to the heavy barrel.
Background information on the Spanish arms manufacturer Bergara
At the IWA Outdoor Classics 2015 in Nuremberg Bergara his can BA13 Take Down for the first time back then. It is a variant of the BA13 model series that can be completely disassembled into three main parts without tools and in just a few seconds: Stock with action, barrel and handguard.
The company, based in the Basque town of Bergara/Gipuzkoa in Spain-based company Bergara is recognised as a manufacturer of some of the world's finest barrels in the industry, offered as blanks or finished parts to gun manufacturers throughout Europe and the world. Bergara barrels are drawn without cutting using the button-drawing process and are made from the steel grades "AIS416" or "AISI4140".
Bergara BA 13 Take Down break-action rifle: First gun impression in our house
The gun arrives well packed in the cardboard box and is held in place with plastic foam elements to protect it from damage.
The first time you pick it up and look at it, you immediately notice it: Everything here has been Well made, nothing is sharp-edged, wobbly or interferes. The plastic parts of the gun are cleanly manufactured.
The injection moulds should be top quality, there are no burrs at the demoulding points. What is also striking is how small and handy the gun is - almost reminiscent of a toy. The weight of 3 kg for the .308 Win. calibre is rather heavy and in many cases also promotes precision.
The non-slip fore-end is elegantly tapered and has a nose at the end. The stock features Eyelets for detachable sling swivels. The fore-end can be easily removed using the release lever. The mounted Picatinny rail in matt black on the barrel fits very well with the weapon concept.
Conclusion: Dhe Take Down is an extremely cleverly designed, solid and short hunting rifle for practical use. Thanks to the synthetic stock and bluing as a protective coating, it is a climate-resistant, corrosion-protected and robust all-weather firearm with a very good trigger. It was created for daily work on the hunting ground (for function and shooting performance).
Pick it up and aim it for the first time - and test it in our shooting cellar
The Bergara BA13 Take Down is available with a matt black barrel and receiver and in a black synthetic version (with or without thumbhole stock). The handguard and pistol grip are designed with classic chequering to prevent slipping. The barrel length is either 16.5 (42 cm) or, in our .308 Win. case 20 inches (51 cm).
Will the Bergara tilting barrel rifle The first time you put the rifle in the firing position, you immediately notice how well everything fits. It is also noticeable that the cheek piece is very close to the centre line of the barrel.
A slightly higher mount will probably be necessary here, but this will no longer be a problem when using a scope with a lens diameter of 50cm or more. With its 52cm barrel, the Bergara is a total of 82 centimetres long and weighs 3.1 kilograms. The steel receiver and the slightly heavier barrel contribute to the high weight.
Bergara BA13 Opening the tilt lock
To open the door, use the Trigger guard equipped with finger hooks simply pulled backwards with the index finger. This cancels the locking mechanism and the barrel can be tilted down so that the chamber is free for loading or unloading. The extractor pushes the cartridge case out by a few millimetres so that it can be easily removed from the chamber.
The locking mechanism consists of a simple wedge-shaped locking wedge which locks positively into the corresponding recess on the hook piece located under the barrel when the gun is closed.
Conclusion: This locking mechanism is simple, solidly constructed and should not allow any wobbling.
Bergara BA 13 Take Down - Trigger system and firing pin
The Bergara has an external hammer. Immediately after hitting the firing pin, it springs back into its safety catch. The shotgun trigger breaks dry after approx. 1400 grams of resistance.
To the Convenient cocking of the hammer when the riflescope is mounted a non-slip bolt with a left-hand thread is screwed in at the side (= prevents the bolt from unscrewing during the clamping process). The tap attachment can be positioned for both right-handed and left-handed operation.
Conclusion: Impeccable trigger system. Cocking and uncocking are quiet - when the trigger is pressed during uncocking or cocking and engages when the trigger is released, it is even silent.
