The Straight-pull repeating system enables lightning-fast reloading and rapid firing with a relaxed posture. Eyes and weapon remain focussed on the target, which leads to a significant gain in time when acquiring the target again. Due to the hand cocking, the recoil spring is deliberately cocked just before the shot is fired.

No mechanical system can offer the safety of a relaxed impact spring. If no shot is fired, light pressure on the cocking slide is sufficient to release the recoil spring. Unintentional opening is impossible when the striker spring is released; a light tap on the cocking slide is sufficient to unlock the bolt.

If the magazine and trigger unit are not in the firearm, the recoil spring cannot be cocked. This provides additional security against unauthorised access.

The R8's dry standing direct trigger provides the perfect basis for an accurate shot without unnecessary time delay.

The Radial collar lock of the R8 locks directly in the barrel, ensures stability and reliable shooting performance. The barrels and chamber are cold hammer forged in most calibres, so the barrel and chamber are always in perfect concentric alignment.

The Weapon is disassembled in seconds, even under adverse conditions, and can therefore be cleaned quickly and thoroughly. The simple disassembly is convenient for extended stalking. Weapon disassembled, stowed in the rucksack and reassembled without changing the point of impact. The magazine can be changed "blind" and is protected against loss by two magazine buttons that can be pressed simultaneously. These buttons can also be locked by an internal slide.
