We were delighted to make our first customer a UNIC carbon stock for his Savage Impulse.
It concerns the Savage Impulse model the first straight-pull bolt action rifle from Savage, which not only features the new Savage Hexlock System (ball and radial collar fastener) but also comes with many other features. According to Savage, around 13 new patents have been used for this weapon.
This bolt action rifle is the first modular straight pull bolt action rifle from Savage.
For example, the Standard muzzle thread mentioned. Furthermore, the Picatinny rail with 20 MOA forward tilt and the AccuTrigger trigger systems from Savage. The rifle also offers a high degree of customisability. The bolt handle can be quickly converted from right to left and, together with the symmetrical grip of the UNIC carbon shaft the best conditions for different shooters.
Savage has also made provisions for variable barrel changes. The shooter can change the barrel quickly and easily. Simply loosen four screws.
Thanks to the tool-free interchangeable bolt head for the locking mechanism and the likewise interchangeable barrels with their barrel retaining nut, nothing stands in the way of several calibre changes with the modular Savage Impulse.
This is now joined by our ultra-light UNIC carbon shaft.
After completion, the Savage Impulse was shot in our shooting cellar and tested with various makes of ammunition. Precision and ergonomics are excellent!

All these model variants fit into the UNIC carbon stock and are simply fixed in the stock with the original screws. This means that no adjustment or modification is necessary.

A few words about the Savage Impulse weapon
- The special construction is strikingly robust and also shows this in its design language.
- The thick barrel contour is of course very heavy, but this also provides sufficient reserves in terms of precision. According to Savage, a lighter version with a Proof Research carbon barrel will be available soon!
- We know from our experience with the Heym SR30 that ball and radial collar locks keep their promise. However, Savage has integrated a plug-in system here and thus made the bolt head removable or partially dismountable, which is certainly an advantage when cleaning.
- Although the action cannot be described as "buttery smooth", it can certainly be described as solid. The decoupling of the spring, which preloads the balls of the radial collar lock in the open position, results in a somewhat easier repeating action compared to the SR30.
- The magazine capacity is very impressive, especially in the Predator version. Small magazines do not protrude beyond the stock and are more delicate. The respective magazine holder is robust and reliable.
- As usual, we recommend the bipods from Spartan and the FBT automatic rifle sling from Niggeloh as accessories for this package.
