FBT AERA 1 Repeating Hunting Rifle? The elimination of every possible source of error | Evolution, a new era of precision and the lightest hunting rifle
Or in other words: ... why we built the impossible
Every hunter knows this one moment: The Heart rate is rising, the game is broadside, the shot must count.
Yet a quiet unease creeps into the mind: has the mount loosened during the ascent? Does the stock warp in the cold? Does the bedding react to humidity?
Conventional rifles are a mosaic of individual parts. Every screw, every interface between the housing, mounting and shaft is a potential weak point.
This is precisely where our AERA 1 We have not only developed the currently lightest bolt-action rifle in the world, but also all possible sources of error which could lead to a loss of precision eliminated.
CEO Moritz Rainer: “We didn't just want to build the lightest rifle. We set ourselves the goal of eliminating every single source of error. The weight reduction is simply the result of using the most advanced technologies and materials at the same time.”
What is the AERA 1? The monolithic titanium revolution
The foundation of the AERA 1 is a masterpiece additive manufacturing technology A 3D-printed casing made of Grade 23 Ti64 titanium.
Instead of individual components bolted together, the receiver, bedding, optics rail, center stock, trigger guard and magazine well are combined into a single part, which is made possible by state-of-the-art 3D printing technology.
- Integrated Swarovski SR optic rail or Zeiss internal rail:
No adapters, no tolerance chains, no gluing. The telescopic sight mount engages directly with the monolithic titanium structure. - Atzl top-tier ball bearing trigger:
The patented ball-bearing trigger breaks as crisp as a blade of glass. The trigger pull weight can be adjusted with extreme precision from 100 g to 1,000 g – for an absolutely consistent shot release. - Hand-laminated UNIC carbon thumbhole stock:
Featherlight, extremely torsion-resistant and UV-protected. Equipped with a pistol grip contour on both sides and an adjustable cheek piece to ensure the perfect eye relief when mounting the firearm in a fraction of a second. - High-End Barrel & Muzzle:
Deep fluted stainless steel precision barrel (470 mm / 18.5″) with M13x1 thread and factory-fitted Recknagel ERA-LOC Muzzle interface for silencer mounting. - Maximum security:
The FBT manual cocking system with rocking lever only tensions the striker spring immediately before the shot – completely safe when stalking and at the shooting range. - Integrated accessory interfaces:
Toolless attachment in the fore-end for Spartan products and Halder Push&Go Slim-Line sling swivel.

The optimal calibre depending on distance – No compromises
We deliberately optimised the AERA 1 for special calibres that our Philosophy of efficiency and performance reflect. We do not build “off-the-shelf products”, we build special tools:
- 6.5 Creedmoor The modern case geometry ensures uniform powder burn, delivering excellent target groupings at both short and long ranges. Despite its powerful ballistic performance, the firearm has very little recoil. This enables more comfortable shooting and faster target acquisition after the shot.
Due to the high ballistic coefficient (BC) The trajectory of the 6.5 mm bullets is very flat. This makes it easier to correct the holdover at long ranges; in addition, the slender bullets result in a less wind drift in crosswinds than with many traditional calibres. It is therefore an excellent choice for long-range shooting (up to over 1,000 m) and, thanks to good energy values and a suitable selection of bullets, is used successfully worldwide for hunting hoofed game. - 7mm-08 Rem For us the absolute hidden gem in the mountains. This calibre is characterised by high inherent precision and a flat trajectory, which is ideal for long-range hunting shots. Due to the smaller bullet diameter compared to the .308 Winchester, it offers better ballistic efficiency and lower wind drift for the same case capacity.
A key advantage is the very moderate recoil, which allows for comfortable shooting without the shooter losing effectiveness on target. As it effortlessly meets the legally required energy values, it is an extremely versatile hunting calibre in Europe for all native cloven-hoofed game – from roe deer to heavy red and wild boar. - 8.5x55 Blaser Our response to the modern hunting with a sound moderator. This calibre offers outstanding optimisation for short barrels and sound moderators. Thanks to its special case geometry and rapid powder burn rate, it achieves even from a 47 cm barrel ballistic performance figures for the classic Magnum calibre require extremely long barrels. This ensures a particularly compact, handy and perfectly balanced weapon in the hunting ground. Despite the short barrel, the cartridge delivers an extremely flat trajectory and an enormous energy yield, which on Distances up to 300 metres and furthermore guarantees excellent inherent precision.
With a bullet diameter of 8.5 mm, it also offers superior depth of penetration and stopping power in game animals. As a universal all-rounder, it thus reliably covers the entire spectrum from domestic roe deer to the heaviest foreign and cloven-hoofed game such as moose or wild boar. Due to the controlled gas pressure, the recoil is easily manageable for a calibre of this performance class. - .300 WSM: The calibre offers a outstanding ballistic efficiency, because the short, thick case shape ensures very uniform and rapid powder burning. This leads to excellent inherent accuracy and an extremely flat trajectory, which is perfect for precise shots at very long distances suitable. Due to the short cartridge chamber, the weapons can be built more compactly, more lightly and with a shorter bolt throw (short action), which significantly improves handling in the hunting ground.
Despite its more compact dimensions, the calibre delivers enormous energy and stopping power on target, which is completely uncompromising for heavy game such as red deer, moose or bears, even at long ranges.
In addition, the calibre often proves to be somewhat [...] compared to traditional magnum cartridges more tolerant of shorter runs. The recoil is characteristically heavy for a magnum, but thanks to the modern cartridge case geometry, it is often noticeably softer and more controllable than with the classic .300 Win Mag.
How does the AERA 1 weapon feel in practice?
You can feel the difference the very first time you lift it: with approx. 1.9 kg (including scope mount) the rifle rests feather-light in the hand. On strenuous mountain hunts or enduring stalks, this firearm ensures a clearly noticeable relief.
At the attack lies the ergonomically optimal carbon thumbhole stock in your hand. The adjustable cheekpiece allows for perfect height adjustment, meaning the telescopic sight is centred immediately upon mounting.
If your finger the Once the Atzl trigger is engaged, there is no creep and no take-up. The shot breaks dead dry. Due to the distribution of force within the carbon fibre, the recoil is absorbed, making the rifle pleasant to shoot even in larger calibres despite its low weight.
